From Love Language to mind-numbing creative economy debates, The thrill of being a UHAMKA Economics Education student !

UHAMKA, JAKARTA – located in RA 508 is the excitement of learning Economics Education students FKIP UHAMKA with Miss lecturer Dr. Camelia Safitri, M,Pd.

The fifth meeting began with an exploration of the concept of Love Language as part of developing interpersonal awareness. Students were asked to identify their own and their classmates’ Love Language, followed by a sharing session by students who have close male friends. This activity aims to strengthen group dynamics and understanding of emotional needs in academic relationships. This meeting teaches students to be active. Students are also encouraged to think critically and their rhetoric is honed. In a dynamic academic meeting, participants were involved in an open debate themed “Case Study of the Creative Economy in Indonesia and the World.” This activity was the main highlight because it raised strategic issues regarding the role of the creative economy as a driver of global economic growth, which also poses challenges in the era of disruption. This debate involved 25 participants, consisting of 14 participants who sided with the pro argument and 11 participants who voiced the con argument. Both groups expressed critical views on the extent to which the creative economy is able to contribute to economic development and national resilience.

Several important points discussed in this debate include three main aspects, namely the impact of the creative economy on national resilience, a comparison of policies between Indonesia and other countries in supporting the creative sector, and the challenges of implementing these policies both locally and globally. The theoretical arguments in this debate refer largely to academic literature, such as the book The Creative Economy: How People Make Money from Ideas by John Howkins and research journals from UNCTAD which emphasize that the creative economy is not only a potential sector, but is also able to create high added value and open up wide employment opportunities, especially in the midst of an economic crisis.

To strengthen their arguments, the participants presented actual case examples, such as South Korea’s success in utilizing the creative economy through the Hallyu and K-Pop cultural waves, which have had a significant impact on cultural exports and GDP growth. From within the country, discussions also emerged regarding the creative ecosystem in Bandung and Yogyakarta which have developed as centers of design and art, but still face obstacles in terms of regulation, access to capital, and digital infrastructure.

As a result of this discussion, the participants compiled several policy recommendations that were considered important, including the need to increase state investment in creativity-based education, improve intellectual property rights policies, and strengthen collaboration between the public, private, and local community sectors. It is hoped that these recommendations will support the development of an inclusive and sustainable creative economy. Yhis meeting is part of the student-centered learning approach, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration, critical thinking, and active student involvement in understanding global issues analytically. The assignment for the next meeting will integrate environmental awareness with creative economic analysis, in line with the vision of sustainable development which is now a global priority. Thus, this activity is not only an academic forum, but also a means to foster the younger generation’s concern for the future of the economy and the environment.
